General information
If you come by car, signs in the greater Hannover region telling you how to get to the exhibition grounds are only available on the motorways and the special trade fair expressway or "Messeschnellweg". Traffic management is achieved by way of an electronically controlled, centralized routing system which is the only one of its kind in Germany. This covers:

• traffic control systems on the BAB 2 and BAB 7
• additional, lane guides at motorway (Autobahn) intersections
• the traffic routing system on the Messeschnellweg
• the parking guidance system around the Messe ring road

Information displayed on these road signs and signals are based on automatically generated and electronically calculated traffic flows. This allows traffic delays to be identified immediately so that the optimum route to and from the exhibition grounds can be displayed at all times. Using a navigation system?
If you are using a navigation system to travel to the show, please enter the Hannover destination "Hermesallee". This is the name of the street which runs parallel to the northern perimeter of the Exhibition Grounds.

Hannnover Emission Zone

Besides being home to many of the world's foremost trade fairs, Hannover is also known for its environmental awareness. On 1 January 2008, Hannover joined Berlin and Cologne in an effort to lower the health risks associated with motor vehicle exhaust (especially diesel exhaust particulates) in their respective city centers. To accomplish this, Hannover has established an official "Emission Zone" roughly defined by the expressways (Schnellwege) encircling the city center. The Emission Zone is indicated by signs reading "Umwelt-Zone". Only vehicles which meet certain minimum requirements are permitted to enter the Emission Zone. To demonstrate compliance, an official permit (disc-shaped sticker) must be displayed on every vehicle's windshield.
