LoRaWAN at the exhibition center
In addition to the 5G campus network at the Deutsche Messe exhibition center in Hannover, Germany, another wireless network technology has been installed - LoRaWAN. Hamburg-based Internet of Things (IoT) expert Digimondo and Deutsche Messe recently signed an agreement to this end.
The aim is to technologically equip the exhibition center with further wireless communication, which can also be used by exhibitors at our trade fairs.
Digimondo will install sensors at various locations on the exhibition grounds for the individual use cases on display at HANNOVER MESSE 2023. Specific use cases include noise level measurement, CO2 monitoring, fill level measurement (waste containers), parking lot monitoring, soil moisture measurement, people counting (without image recording), the use of a feedback button, a door contact monitoring as well as the meter reading at the Smart Venue booth and the bee scale of the fair bees on the green area at Hall 21.
These data converge in a Public Dashboard transparent to all visitors in the form of map displays. The Public Dashboard thus makes it possible to share real-time data with people outside one's own organization in order to provide full transparency close to the application and without the need for explanation.

Thanks to digital networking, processes in manufacturing plants and logistics systems are highly automated and self-organised.

Data collection, storage and analysis will be important business areas in the future and aspects of cyber security are also gaining enormous importance for companies.
5G is a key driver for further automation in logistics. It encompasses intelligent and lean supply chains, building on agile cooperation networks and organisational networking.
Information networking takes place through ICT systems, data networks, sensor technology and automatic identification technologies.
At the heart of the classic transport of goods are connected sensors that transmit the position, temperature, vibrations and other aspects of the handling of shipments to logistics centres or forwarding dispatchers.
